Thesis Statement

In the article "Singing the Pink Blues," author Margot Mifflin compares how children are targeted in different ways by toy manufacturers based on their gender, claiming that boys are pushed to play aggressive manly games, while girls are taught to play dress-up and put on make-up. Although Mifflin makes some striking points, to imply that the types of games kids played with at a young age is the root of a sexist society is irrational.

  1. I think you did an excellent job of stating that you disagree with most of what Mifflin writes in the article. Your thesis statement is very good. The only suggestion I would have would be to change the wording around because it may come across stronger then. If you start with “Children are targeted in different ways….. In the article “Singing…”, author M M makes some striking points….

    I hope that made sense without me typing everything out. But if you start with the point and grab the attention of your reader with that and then put in the article information, etc.
