Is Technology Making Us More Alienated, Less Sociable, and therefore Less Human?

Convenience makes us lazy, we have many tools that help us with our day to day operations and we don’t even realize what it is doing to us as a species. We are being alienated without the social interactions that technology saves us because we "don’t have the time". People use self checkouts, drive through windows, and online banking/purchasing in their day to day business interactions. We also use many methods of social interactions without being in the vicinity of anyone but our gadgets. Some of our methods are text messaging, email, online social networks (Myspace/ Facebook) to interact with our friends and family. Is technology making us more alienated, less sociable and therefore less human, I think so.

I believe this topic is a good topic because there is a lot write about and it is not going to touch on moral issues. It is a topic that can be discussed because of the usefulness of technology and how it benefits humankind while on the other hand inhibiting our personalities.
